The climax at the top of Empire State Building in the movie is inspired from another classic “An Affair to Remember” - a meeting place for lovers as close to heaven as possible.
Here on earth, if the New York city laws could have it, more people will be sleepless as the emmergency shelter rules are changed. Which means more people sleeping on the streets. While Los Angeles has a new rule which makes sleeping on pavement legal as long as the state is not able to provide free hosuing for all the homeless.
Two stories, appearing the same day in the Times, but with very different circumstances - it will be Sleepless in NY while Sleep Well in LA.
